Introduction
The year is 1884. It is the early beginnings of organized sports leagues in North America with Baseball providing the first-ever Major Sports League and league rivalry. This year saw the rivalry in Baseball intensify between the older, established National League, the upstart American Association, and a third league call the Union Association. We see the first-ever World Series between the National League and American Association, which was the first time ever that champions from two Major Sports Leagues would compete against each other for a cross-league championship!
We see the first Proto-League in Hockey, the Montreal Winter Carnival Hockey Tournament, return for another season.

A new Rival League, named the Union Association (UA), was formed to challenge Baseball’s National League, 140 years ago.
